Looks like he killed three, including a bicyclist who got between the gunman and a woman. \u00a0No information yet about who or why, but Colorado&#8217;s fairly liberal carry laws apparently did not deter the man. \u00a0This was not a &#8220;gun-free&#8221; zone.<\/p>\n<p>A pretty good outline in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Salon<\/em><\/a> of how today&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gop.com\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Party<\/a> has moved away from real Conservatism from Mary Barker,. \u00a0I have to say I like the term &#8220;Conservatives in Name Only.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Conservatives in name only, here&#8217;s the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/bearingdrift.com\" target=\"_blank\">Bearing Drift<\/a><\/em>\u00a0take on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bearingdrift.com\/2015\/10\/29\/this-is-no-way-to-choose-a-president\/\" target=\"_blank\">the CNBC debate<\/a>. \u00a0Anyone who watched the debate or read the transcripts can easily see that his complaint about &#8220;gotcha&#8221; questions holds little water. \u00a0The question that sent Senator Cruz off on his &#8220;liberal media&#8221; rant was about the budget compromise deal John Boehner and President Obama made the day before. \u00a0Cruz didn&#8217;t want to answer it so he changed the subject. \u00a0At the end of the day, GOP candidates in that debate could have discussed anything they wished, and their choice to attack news organizations instead of laying out their vision for the nation says a lot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/2015\/10\/27\/joseph_stiglitz_under_tpp_polluters_could\" target=\"_blank\">Interesting interview with Joseph Stieglitz<\/a>, who points out that the <a href=\"http:\/\/trans pacific partnership australia\" target=\"_blank\">Trans-Pacific Partnership<\/a> deal has more to do with restricting the power of national governments to regulate than about free trade\u00a0(via\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com\/2015\/10\/will-the-trans-pacific-partnership-empower-polluters-to-sue-the-united-states\" target=\"_blank\">Lawyers, Guns and Money<\/a><\/em>)<em>. \u00a0<\/em>Some\u00a0political science research suggests that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Private-Power-Public-Globalization-International\/dp\/052152539X\" target=\"_blank\">corporate power<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunypress.edu\/p-2941-private-authority-and-internati.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">private authority<\/a> have been eroding State power for some time. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-Retreat-State-Diffusion-International\/dp\/0521564409\" target=\"_blank\">The State is in retreat<\/a>, and not just domestically.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More like Sunday Brunch this week, but a few interesting reads: Man walks down the street in Colorado Springs just shooting people with a rifle.
